Sandra Jaekel-Bothyart

Snowdog:Great North Polar Pooch

Working from her country cottage studio, Sandra creates artworks using a variety of mediums from watercolours to acrylics and soft pastels. Speed and vibrancy are afforded by pastels, which she uses to achieve a wide variety of both dramatic and softer effects. Sandra's watercolour and working acrylic pieces are more detailed and precise. The contrast between working with her preferred mediums allows continual improvement of her technique and keeps the work fresh and exciting. Inspired by natural surroundings, Sandra predominantly paints animals and birds, trying to capture an essence of their unique character and expression, enjoying the challenge of recreating the texture of fur or feathers and exploring the feeling and depth within the eyes. Sandra's aim is that the finished works communicate a connection with the viewer- when looking at the paintings they hopefully identify with, that brief 'moment in time' glance from the subject, bringing the work to life.
