Spocky Dog

Something about the Snowdog sculpture reminded artist Hilary of the Star Trek character, Dr. Spock, especially the ears. He is an icon of scrience fiction, and Hilary hopes Spocky Dog can be a fitting tribute to the late Leonard Nimoy, Dr. Spock himself.

Emma Gaudern from Durham was a big fan of the Great North Snowdog trail. After seeing over forty of the dogs out and about in the region with her family she decided she would love one as a company mascot.

Emma said:

“I have two children, aged three and four, so doing the Great North Snowdog trail as a family was right up our street. I think towards the end me and my partner were into it more than the kids. On the cold, rainy days the little ones preferred to stay in the car while me or my partner got out to get the code for the app and look at the dogs. After the trail I knew I really wanted a Snowdog and as Spocky Dog was my little boys favourite I decided to go for him. My son used to call him ‘Baddy Dog’ as he thought he looked like a baddy!”

Emma thoroughly enjoyed the auction and even took some friends along who also ended up buying one of the Snowdogs. Emma continued:

“I’m the Managing Director of a solicitors practice so Spocky Dog now lives in the reception. He’s extremely popular and everyone loves seeing him. He’s a good talking point and as he’s based in Durham not that many people know about the trail or St Oswald’s so we are able to tell them about more about it. Spocky Dog has quickly become the unofficial mascot of EMG Solicitors Limited. His picture is now on our business cards, notepads and other promotional material. We love him!”
