Rio was inspired by Ponteland First School's topic on the Olympics last summer. As part of the topic they looked at the opening ceremony of the Olympics and had the opportunity to explore Brazilian dance, music, food and culture during our Carnival Week. One of the highlights of the week was their carnival celebration where each year group performed and the whole school paraded with our dog to the beat of a Samba drum.

The design concept allowed every child to 'make their mark' on the puppy, imprinting it with their fingerprint, in a series of patterns. Each year group also designed an aspect of Rio's carnival costume.
