At Rickleton Primary School we highly value creativity. We have a link with a Chinese art school (Shanghai Imagination Children's Centre) and last year we received a visit from Mr Zhou, the headteacher, a year ago and have been in contact ever since.

In February 2016, Mr Zhou set the children an exciting challenge. He asked them to create a piece of 'imagination art' which requires the children to: create shapes without planning, then to fill the shapes using blended techniques and colours to suit the mood or personality of the artist.

The pupils decided that we needed to decorate the Snowdog in a way that reflects the creativity of the school. Every child in the school created a design for the Snowdog, drawing ideas from the previous work on 'imagination art'. The children have chosen to name the Snowdog Huàméi which means 'colourful' in Chinese.

The staff have nominated children across the school to become part of the 'Rickleton Snowdogs Art Team'. This team will decorate the Snowdog. We can't wait to see the final result!

Access to Huàméi Dog:

Please note; this Snowdog can only be accessed during the opening times of Sunderland Empire Cinema. The cinema is open each day 30 minutes before the first film of the day is shown, and 30 minutes after the last film of the day finishes.
